Lion prides clash

Hi Guys
Here is a video of 2 lion prides that clash when the one pride has made a kill. Notice how the one Male Lion protects the cubs. This was filmed in the Thornybush Game Reserve.

Hi Mark,

I could not really see the Lion protecting the cubs, I may look again tomorrow. I am amazed that in that situation, the vehicles did not back off and move the light directly away from any one animal. To me, the vehicles seemed too close in what may have been a life and death situation for any of those animals and I feel the ranger should have made that a priority!

Kind regards,

Kaye

Hi Kaye
We were the only vehicle at this sighting as it was 2AM in the morning. We actually were not that close, about 100 metres, and I have an extremely powerful lens on my video camera. If you notice the tracker did not shine the spotlight into their eyes directly at any time. It is always just below the head. This is perfectly OK with predators and we never caused any disadvantage to any single lion.

2 AM? Very impressive, Mark.....may i ask, was it a continuation of the night drive (or) did you take off from the lodge having heard the lions at 2AM?

Hari
It was just after dinner when we decided to go out for the night and skip the morning drive. I've done this many times in the hope of filming some action.

Hi Mark,

Just got to watch both your videos....have been a bit busy over the past two days.

I enjoyed them both very much....thanks for sharing...however, i'm not a fan of the accompanying music "Beastie boys" ....

Living in Africa, i'm sure you have tons of brilliant clips.......

Hi Hari
Glad you enjoyed them. Yes, I have hundreds of hours of footage. I will put some more up for you guys.
On Sunday I am going to Kruger to chill out at a bushcamp so hopefully I will get something interesting to film.
