Leaving for Kenya and Tanzania in 4 days

It has been a long wait for me. Having logged 5 previous safaris to various places in Kenya, Tanzania, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe, I had to wait 9 years for this 6th one (marriage, kids, job, etc.). My itinerary is as follows:

- 3 nights at Campi ya Kanzi (Kuku Ranch)
- 2 nights at Elsa's Kopje (Meru National Park)
- 2 nights at Ngorongoro Crater Lodge
- 3 nights at Kirawira Camp (Serengeti)
- 3 nights at Mhuba Camp (Ugalla Game Reserve)

But for Ngorongoro, I have not been to any of these places (in East Africa, I have been to Maasai Mara, Amboseli, Tsavo West and East, Samburu, Nakuru, Lewa Downs, Shimba Hills, Baringo, and Tarangire). Since I have been to many popular places, this itinerary is a bit offbeat. I am really looking forward to Ugalla, which is technically a hunting concession (I do not hunt), but we are visiting under a special arrangement. It is supposed to be a cross between Ruaha, Katavi, and the Okavango Delta -- lots of wild game including huge sables and roans.

I will surely report back.

Safaridude,
Sounds like an interesting trip. Is it possible to see chimps in Ugalla?
Safari njema!

I think there are some chimps on the very western edge of the greater Ugalla complex, but there aren't any in the concession itself. On the other hand, there are frequent wild dog sightings... lots of impalas, kudus, Lichtenstein's hartebeests and topis --and a relatively low population of lions and hyenas make it a good habitat for the dogs.
