Lamu and Scuba Diving
I'm learning a lot about Kenya, but I've never been to Lamu.
Any "must see"'s? Do you know of a good diving centre on Lamu? (I just want to do a couple of dives) Any tips for a first time visitor? |
Pumbavu, Lamu itself is a “must see”. Lamu Museum is a lot better than you would expect. The main activities on Lamu are dhow trips and dhow trips and dhow trips. I spent 4 nights in Lamu Town in June. I didn’t do any scuba diving, but I suppose you just ask a dhow captain to take you to a good place for scuba diving. You don’t have to look for dhow captains – they’ll find you.
You’ll find my trip report and photos here: http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessa...mp;keyword=464 Mimi pia ni mpumbavu kidogo. |
Wow, what an adventure you had!
I really need to find somewhere with gear for hire... tanks belts etc. and someone with qualified guides/divemasters. I'm happy to snorkle from a dhow, but scuba is too dangerous to leave to chance. |
I did a search and found that the Peponi Hotel has what you're looking for:

Thank you! I've mailed them to find out what's available!
