Lake Naivasha Options???

Has anyone been to both Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge AND Crater Lake Tented Camp?

Does anyone have any recommendations between the two?

I'm thinking of staying at either of them for 2 nights, and since the prices are "about" the same, money isn't really a factor.

Any insights would be much appreciated!

visited the Crater lake tented camp when we were at lake Naivasha and was sorry we didn't stay there. it's the only place on the crater lake and the tents were very nice. Sorry can't give you any info on the Sopa Lodge.

Joeyi,

How was the road getting there? Very bad... a little bad....or pretty good?

Also, was it quite accessible for senior citizens, or were there too many steep steps?

getting there from where? we came from Nakuru and it wasn't the best but not very long. the road back to Nairobi is fine. the very last bit of road to the crater lake lodge is dirt and wasn't the best when we were there, but it's only a matter of maybe 10 minutes.

one more note, you have to park above the lodge and walk down a lot of stairs to get there. if someone had trouble walking stairs i would not recommend it.

You may have a hard time finding someone who has stayed at BOTH.

I stayed at the Sopa. Left Lake Nakuru around 4ish, drove along GOD AWFUL roads to get to the Sopa... in fact ironically there are some relatively decent highways on the way to the Sopa and then the final road there is ABYSMAL.

The Sopa had one of the most amazing rooms of my whole trip. I am sorry I didn't stay there 2 nights. I loved the grounds. Allegedly during the day hippos come out of the Lake and wander the grounds, I got there to olate and left too early to see any of that. ;(

Food was great, service great.

Thanks Wayne! I think you should work as a promoter for Naivasha Sopa! You seemed to REALLY like your time there!

Anyone else have any thoughts?!
