Kwando question?

When is green season and secret season? The Kwando web site does not mention rates or seasons.

Thanks,
cj

High season is from June 1 to Oct 31.
Green season is from April 1 to May 31 and from November 1 to 30.
Secret season is from Dec 1 to March 31.

Exactly the opposite is the case for secret. I have posted the rates before but here they are again.
High $825,Green $620,Secret $455 per person per night
this is for all camps except Little Kwara where they are $910, 4620, $485 for the same time periods.
I hope this is of some use.

Hi Bots,

Those are great deals! thanks for sharing this useful information with the forum......

I must also add that, there is no single supplement in the secret season......makes the offer even better!

Thank you all for the great information. Does anyone have experience with Lebala and Kwara in early December? My two concerns would be the heat and wildlife viewing especially the predators.

Thanks,
cj

We were there (Lebala & Lagoon) for 8 days in early December 2006, it was warm but not uncomfortable. We had short rain early one morning which delayed departure for around an hour. Game viewing was good, we had our first sighting of the fabled Lagoon pack of wild dog leopard lion and many elephant and plains game.

Yes, the secret season pricing from Kwando is an excellent deal... I also believe that the existing private vehicle pricing is in place for this upcoming secret season, before it goes up in April.

Kiboko,

I was at Kwara 1st week of December 2005 and saw 20 different lions in a three night stay (pride of 11, pride of 5 incl three big males, two nomadic males and two old beaten up males that had just lost a fight).... that particular summer was unusually very wet!

Anyone interested should be requesting to book under the 5 Rivers special rather than Secret Season -- rack rate for 5 Rivers is $260 pppn vs. the Secret Season quote of $455. They have to have different rates in the case that you don't qualify for the 5 Rivers but all that requires is two camps of 2 nights or 3 nights at one camp so most people will qualify for the special. The special that Bots posted including transfers appears to be using the lower 5 Rivers special. I understand people's negativity toward the high pricing in Botswana but its almost impossible to beat this pricing for outstanding camps on a fly in safari, it is on par with pricing anywhere else for a similar luxury level.

Just to add to my post: Kwando will certainly be invoicing based on the 5 Rivers special but some agents may sell you on the Secret Season since its pricing appears great vs. the high season and thus the agent can make a much larger profit if you are unaware so be sure and tell them you want the 5 Rivers special pricing. Consumer knowledge can be a valuable thing.

Rick: I sometimes lead small group trips and I have travelled on the 5 Rivers special previously with clients so I have the rates. It is worth noting that agents have to add a percentage or they would be making nothing on the rack rate so the consumer is going to receive a higher priced deal with some percentage commission built in, likely 15 to 20% if you find a competitive agent.

PB or Bots,

This is confusing....in order to qualify for the 5 rivers special, does one need to do 2 nights minimum at just the kwando camps or all of those camps that cover the 5 rivers...like the caprivi strip camps etc etc.,?

Thanks,
Hari
