Last I heard, Africa Geographic were entrusted with the judging of results. No idea of results, if already announced!

lbj May 18th, 2008 06:42 AM

As of last week, AG were still sitting on the results or photos. After popping my head in the office, it was mentioned that they wanted the result pre-indaba, so perhaps a decision has been made.

Hi Johan,

I can confirm that the last thing I heard in early April was that the photos were with Africa Geographic.

How is that you can make a judgement on thwe quality of these images when they are very small.

Given the fact that fantastic photos are taken every day in Kwando, I can only assume that these were not entered.

Where are the Wild Dogs?

An arse shot of Lechwe is the winner, that really is an insult to those who submitted good photos.

"An arse shot of Lechwe is the winner, that really is an insult to those who submitted good photos."

Agree with sniktawk - poor winning photo.
Also agree, why are winning photos so small?

Sounds like sniktawk & cary999 need a hug.

lbj Jun 27th, 2008 05:26 AM

I thought the landscape winner was a rahter poor show! ;)

Kavey Jun 27th, 2008 05:26 AM

I would imagine that the reason such small versions of the images are posted is a) so they can easily be displayed on one page and b) to deter image theft/ unauthorised usage.

One thing that I hear again and again from those who run photographic competitions is that they so often hear derisive comments about the winning images and suggestions that there are far better images out there. But the judges can only choose from the images that are submitted.

If others feel they can do better, then they should get off their ****s and enter them!

A HUGE well done to all the finalists and the winner!
