Excellent suggestion christabir. Wonder if you have to be on a BA flight to pay and get in? That is, for anyone willing to pay? And any other lounges there JNB, SAA, Lufthansa, Virgin?
Priority Pass (independent lounges world wide) has 3 lounges in JNB international. Might be worth joining, even if for one visit JNB. http://www.prioritypass.com/lounges/ regards - tom |
I know if you get a 30 day membership to Delta SkyClub for $90, you can use the Delta lounge in JNB for two people. There is a "public" business lounge at JNB - I think it's the one that tom mentions - that you can pay to use for $25 per person for three hours (I think). I don't know about the others, but definitely worth looking into.
Of course, if it is crowded (holiday, weather delays), they won't let you buy in. |
I went in June 2007, stayed at four official Kruger lodges and drove a rental car myself. This is a very cheap and easy way to go on safari. I did pay for a morning hike and an evening drive, both of which were very reasonable, scheduled through the park: http://www.sanparks.org/parks/kruger/

Tom,
With all due respect. Ezulwini is part of the greater Kruger national Park. It has no fences between Kruger and all the Private Reserves adjacent. All the animals flow freely though out the land mass of thousands of acres. The reserve is includes Kruger, Klaserie and the private land are all one. There are some Private reserves across the Route R40 (the West side) which are NOT part of the Kruger Park proper such as Selati, Garongwe, Thorny Bush, and Kapama. Hope this clarifies the situation. I was just at Billy's Lodge at Ezulwini Lodge complex and saw everything I thought I would see including elephants, herds of Water Buffalo, Lions, birds , plain game such as zebra, wilderbeasts and so many others. We did not get to see the elusive Leopards however all the other Big Five. We are going back to stay at the Ezuwini River Lodge and am sure we will see more. The staff is more than gracious, accommodating and family like. EThe owners, the Saad Family are on site and add to the ambiance. More later. Richard |
