Thanks for the info. At this late date the only accomodations are Pretoriuskop in a Hut and Skukuza in a Safari Tent. They look pretty rustic, but oh well.

What kind of cars did you rent? Huge price fluctuations. Is the Toyota Verso good? Looks like a minivan from the pics.

We rented an SUV from Avis-said X-Trail or similar. We got the similar, a Hyundai Tucson, high enough off the ground to see out in the distance and very comfortable to be in all day.

We've had a Nissan Almera and most recently a Toyota Corolla Verso. These are good for 2 people but I would go bigger if you have more than that.

Renting a standard transmission will save you money.

Keep checking those accomodations. People cancel all of the time, particularly at the 90 day point where more substantial deposits are needed to hold reservations.

Huts and safari tents are the most rustic of the Kruger accomodation types. However, you will always have a clean place to stay, and have clean restrooms. Their facilities put U.S. national parks to shame.

Any ideas on where you'll be staying in Maputo? I'm curious. Also, where is DFD stationed?
