Kenya Visa $35 now instead of $25?

Hi:

After reading for hours on end I am finding that people who are buying their visas upon arrival in Kenya are paying $25 USD. I also confirmed this with our tour operator.

Unfortunately, my friends went to Kenya in June and they each had to pay $35 USD. I have experienced fraud living in Africa in the last year but I would be more surprised if they did this for visas? Our tour operator said fraud is unlikely because visitors are supposed to receive a receipt when they pay for the visa.

Has anyone been to Kenya in the last month and only had to pay $25 rather than $35?

Thanks!

The fee is currently USD$25-adult; children under 16/yrs are FOC.

I visited in June and handed over $25; received Visa and receipt for same.

Sandy and everyone!

I stoped at Kenya Consulate in Washington DC today, 14 July. The visa fees are $50 per person, including children under 16. This took effect on the 1st of July of this year. See the information on Kenya Consulate website:

TIA - this is Africa.

Notice came out that as 1st April prices would remain at the lower $25 and children under 16/yrs FOC to 1st July; then another notice that the 1st July date was extended thru end 2011. Seems now, they've gone back to the 1st July increase at $50/person including children. Remember though - this was the price before the government reduced the rates during the economic downturn, which appears to be over :)

It is now what it is.

Thank you for informing me the economic downturn is over. Who knew?

... well, with tourism numbers almost back to those of '07, the last really good year, guess "it's over" :)

Just looking thru old passports... my first safari, the Visa cost was $25, next was $35.
