Kenya safari

we are planning to travel to Kenya in mid june 2022. we would like to do a three day safari in masai Mara and end with a three or four nights in mombasa. Do you know any good accomodations in Masai mara and mombasa that you can recommend? We are looking for mid range priced accomodation ( Lodges). We are also looking for a good hotel in Nairobi. We like to stay in hotels where we can feel relaxed, not too stiff but at the same should be of good standards.

Masai Mara has several properties to suit your stay. It depends entirely on your budget and the time of travel. High season attracts high prices
Mombasa on the other hand has very nice accommodation facilities locate from the beach line all the way to serene location away from the crowds.
Nairobi is the biggest city in East and Central Africa and a very busy environment for both local and international business people. You may choose the Four Points by Sheraton Nairobi Airport Hotel or Crowne Plaza Nairobi Airport just in case you want to escape the traffic. However there are other properties to choose from located in the suburbs of the city like Karen which I highly recommend. I am currently on the ground; I am Kenyan living in Nairobi but born and raised at the Coast of Kenya.

Hello Nordic79
Some of the best mid-range accommodations in Masai Mara that I can recommend are Mara Sarova Camp, Sand River, and Mara Sopa Lodge. You can probably stay at Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort or Voyager Beach Resort for your Mombasa (North Coast) accommodation. If you want to stay in Diani (Mombasa South Coast), I recommend checking out either Baobab Beach Resort or Swahili Beach Resort. Fairview Hotel or Weston Hotel are likely to be the best hotels for your stay in Nairobi.

I think the best thing to do is to get an outfit, and work together, I dont mean let him decide what you want to do, NO! He can suggest and you logically go through each one, read review, ask Questions etc, and finally you will get what you want! Unless you want to do it entirely on your own something that I do not recommend, there are so much options you can look at!

Personally I will go with Sopa Lodge or Saranova for that part, I am not sure about the rest! Masai Mara has several properties to suit your stay. It depends entirely on your budget and the time of travel. High season attracts high prices.

@gfavuk, you make an excellent point. It will also be best for Nordic79 to go through each of the hotels I've recommended, as well as any other contributors if any. Obviously, I'll be delighted to assist.

cheers

I would reach out to a safari planner and have them propose some itineraries for you. Some of the accommodations mentioned above are MASSIVE camps and lodges, with more rooms/tents than some hotels in the US. Work with a safari planner and ask for a smaller, more personalized experience. I'd recommend The Wild Source, Gamewatchers, Expert Africa and Africa Travel Resource for starters. I've worked with them all and enjoyed my experience with them. Bear in mind that June is getting into high season and many people book years ahead anyway, plus many postponed from 2020 and 2021. You're very late in planning this, so I'd get started asap.

I am working with Gamewatchers for next years travel and this will be my third trip with them and always they help me with my travel preferences and answer all my questions.
