Kenya "lake district"

Could you compare and contrast the different lakes such as Nakuru, Navasha, Baringo with respect to wildlife, scenery, activities, interesting places to stay nearby?

I've only been to Nakuru and that was long ago when fundrasing efforts were first underway to bring in rhinos.

Thanks.

I'd be interested too as I plan to include Naivasha, Nakuru, Bogoria, and Baringo on our next trip.

Patty,

I've thought about doing several lakes too. What prompted you to include more than one?

We wanted an itinerary that included Samburu, Mara and Baringo (traveling by road) and it made sense to include the others from a logistical point of view. We will stay at Nakuru first, then Baringo, and finally Naivasha. Bogoria will be included either on the way to/from Baringo or as a day trip from there. Hoping to see some rhino and leopard (didn't see any of the latter on my last trip) at Nakuru, some birdwatching, relaxing, and a visit to the Njemps tribe at Baringo, and a few things interested us in the Naivasha area - walking around Crescent island, a visit to the Elsamere conservation center, and hiking in Hells Gate national park. Probably won't have time to cover everything but those are the ones on our list. From what I've read, it sounds like the lakes are different enough to warrant visiting several.

Looks great. How many lake days in total?
If you wish, you could post the whole itinerary if it is complete.

I posted my updated (but still not complete) itinerary on my other thread :) -
