Kenya here we come!!

I just want to thank everyone for all their posts and pictures. When I started planning this trip the beginning of this year I was overwhelmed with the planning until I found this web site. I was more of a lurker/reluctant poster but did become addicted to and still reading this site daily.

My sister-in-law's job has taken her to Nairobi for a few years and I decided it was a good excuse to go on safari. My husband and I will be leaving from San Diego on Thanksgiving morning. Some of our safari will be the 2 of us and then we’ll have 2 long weekend driving safaris with the family, which includes our 12 year old nephew who has become the animal expert in the family and is still in search of a leopard sighting.

I will try to do a trip report and pictures when we return.

Below is our itinerary

nov 25 NBO with family
Nov 26 NBO with family
Nov 27 Fly Mara Olonana Tented Camp
Nov 28 Olonana
Nov 29 fly NBO late in day
Nov 30 NBO with family
Dec 1 Drive Amboseli with family, they have 4 wheel drive and Pam will
make accommodation arrangements.
Dec 2 Amboseli
Dec 3 Return NBO with family
Dec 4 Fly Samburu Larsen’s
Dec 5 Larsen’s
Dec 6 Drive Meru/Elsa’s
Dec 7 Elsa’s
Dec 8 Fly Nairobi
Dec 9 Drive the ark
Dec 10 Drive Lake Nakuru, Pam will
make accommodation arrangements.
Dec 11 Drive Navisaha, Pam will
make accommodation arrangements.
Dec 12 Navisha return to Nairobi
Dec 13 Nairobi late departure home

What an alternative to roasting the Turkey. Should be a memorable family holiday for your family. Looks like a great trip.

Sounds like a really wonderful trip, both safari-wise and family-wise! Can't wait to hear about it on your return - have a good one!

Have a good trip Joyce. Won't see you at Elsa's but leave us a message if you can ;-) Hope the rain has stopped and Larsen's is not now being run as the first tented barge in East Africa (does sis-in-law have any information about the current situation with the Ewaso Ngiro river?) I am sure that leopard sighting will be achieved, but nephew might need to keeps his eyes peeled to compensate the extra greenery!

Kimburu,

glad you saw the post, i was thinking about your trip coming on the heels of ours. i will remember to leave a message with Serah. hopefully this sat or sun we will go to see the cheetahs.
SIL has actually been in the states the last 2 weeks and returns to Nairobi today. But when i emailed BIL and Serah about the rain they all say "don't worry". so Hakuna Matata has become my new saying.

Being our first trip to Africa it will be an adventure rain or shine.

joyce
