Just do it!!!

Go at the end of October and then take advantage of low season November rates at Luangwa River Lodge and Puku Ridge right afterward.

Kaingo/Mwamba 6 nights at $420 per night (long stay discount) = $2520 pps

Puku Ridge 4 nights at $330 per night (long stay discount) = $1320 pps

Luangwa River Lodge 3 nights at $380 per night = $1140 pps

Taj Pamodzi 1 night at $150 pps = $150 pps

Air = $425 pps

GRAND TOTAL = $5555 pps (less than $400 pppns including internal air for some pretty fabulous properties)

If not this year, then next year. Personally, I really miss South Luangwa and cannot wait to return although it probably will not be until 2008. I am however returning to Zambia next year in October and here is how it is shaping up:

Sausage Tree Camp, LZNP (2)
Old Mondoro, LZNP (2)
Chiawa, LZNP (2)
Taj Pamodzi, Lusaka (1)
Kaingu, Kafue NP (2)
Nanzhila Plains, Kafue NP (3)
Mukambi, Kafue NP (2)
Mukambi Busanga Plains Camp, Kafue NP (3)
Kaingu (1)
Taj Pamodzi (1)

Chances are Alexsandra and I will be joining another Fodorite couple for the Kafue overland safari. Kafue is the third largest park in Africa and is twice the size of Yellowstone or about the same size as Wales. So, to devote 11 nights on an overland trip is definitely not overdoing it.

Sorry for the slight threadjack...yes, Kaingo is wonderful and will be on schedule for 2008 without a doubt. Seems like the wildlife gets stronger and stronger each year and North Luangwa seems to improve, as well, with each passing year and would make a natural combination.
