Sorry if this appears twice. Some problems here...

africnow May 29th, 2006 09:37 AM

LOL Didn't even appear once, much less twice.

This is what I *wanted* to say:
Fascinating! If I were not so confused now, that would have made me rethink yet again my proposed trip :D

Africnow,

What is your present itinerary?

Kaingo is a great experience. While I was there a couple years ago, all I had to do was take about a dozen steps forward and I was on the edge of a tall embankment of the Luangwa River with dozens of hippos and crocodiles nearby. Although I did not appreciate it at the time, I was also mock charged by an elephant right in camp. While my guide, Ian, and two female guests stood their ground (as I would come to find out), I, on the other hand, sprinted halfway across the camp, before I realized that the elephant had only taken a step forward. :)

Kaingo's animal hides are excellent, especially their hippo hide. It is even possible to arrange a sleepout in the elephant hide, which is located high in a tree. This is most recommended during a full moon, and a vehicle and guide are stationed nearby.

Rocco,

You were just getting in shape for the next marathon, I'm sure.

A sleepout in the hide sounds intriguing.

santharamhari May 29th, 2006 07:56 PM

Rocco,

Interesting about the sleep out. Did the sleep out thing in a hide in Lion Sands in 2003.....didnt see a thing, didnt hear a thing!!! They left us with radios to radio the staff in case we needed help at night.....didnt use it. Dropped us off after dinner and collected us in the morning for the game drive.

I know where I want to go next year...

africnow May 30th, 2006 05:56 AM

Hari

This is for 2007, not this year which is fixed.

My priority is the Wild Dogs and the rates. Either I go budget, or I don't go at all.
:((

Right now I will definitely go to Madikwe, probably Buffalo Lodge. Then there is the follow up...
Possibly a few days in Cape Town
Possibly a few days in Sand Rivers
and now... I want Kaingo (or South Lungawa)!!

What to do, what to do...

No need to add that I am driving my poor travel agent m-a-d :))

santharamhari May 30th, 2006 06:23 AM

Africnow,

Hi! Very interesting mix, between Madikwe, CT, Sand rivers selous, Kaingo.....isnt there lots of travel involved??? But Sand rivers sounds awesome!!! however, isnt it best later in the season, like Sept or Oct?
