Kaingo - April 2006 Newsletter
Here is the April 2006 Newsletter for Kaingo, an excellent camp in the northern part of South Luangwa.
http://www.kaingo.com/newsletter.asp Also, here is in incredible photogallery with photos that, I believe, were taken by Jules Shenton, one of the owners of Kaingo, who also serves as an excellent host. http://www.kaingo.com/photo_newsletters/Rains2006.asp Seeing this photo album reminds me why South Luangwa is one of my favorite destinations in Africa. Just an amazingly scenic park with excellent wildlife and great lodges/camps. |
thanks for posting these links, Rocco. There are some amazing pictures which really whetted my appetite! Only 4 1/2 weeks to go before we arrive in the Luangwa River area. The bird pictures are wonderful - although not officially a "birder", I love seeing the little buggers, especially the really colorful ones or the ones like the weavers that build really incredible structures as nests.

yes, thanks for keeping us informed on South Luangwa. we passed this camp on the way to Tafika, looked interesting!
|
looks great....im soooo looking forward to my stay.

Kaingo is a great camp! It has a wonderful hippo hide built into the bank of the Luangwa. The hippos swim right up to it and you can get great photos.
|
I love Kaingo's hippo hide...the hippo hide, on its own merit, is enough to justify a visit to Kaingo for anyone looking for great hippo photos.
Also, it is now possible to spend the night in the elephant hide, and this is located about 25 feet high in a tree. A bed is placed up there and guests are accompanied by a guide who is in his vehicle on the ground nearby. |
