Kafue National Park, Zambia

In deciding between including either only Lower Zambezi NP or a combination between Lower Zambezi/South Luangwa, I just happened to take a look at Kafue NP, one of Africa's largest parks, for the first time in ages, and it looks great:

A combination of Kafwala Rapids Camp, newly opened just last month, and Lunga River Lodge, seems like a great combo. It almost seems like a combination between the Lower Zambezi National Park and South Luangwa National Park, although I do not expect gameviewing to be as strong as in South Luangwa. Hopefully, however, by visiting in peak season, it will at least be close to what I have experienced in South Luangwa in shoulder season when the brush is still thick.

In any event, I will get the very high quality gameviewing in the Sabi Sand at Simbambili and hopefully either Londolozi Tree, or at a minimum the Royal Malewane (Thornybrush Reserve).

Just another possible itinerary:

Kafwala Rapids Camp, Kafue NP, Zambia (3)
Lunga River Lodge, Kafue NP, Zambia (3 nights in Deluxe Honeymoon Suite) I love camps with a river!!!
Twelve Apostles, Cape Town (3)
Birkenhead House or Marine Hermanus, Hermanus (3)
Simbambili (3)
Tamboti (3) A South African friend wants to take me to a more rustic camp in Kruger NP, and I am game.
Londolozi Tree or Royal Malewane (3)

This works out very well, as I really cannot justify a stay of less than four nights in either South Luangwa or Lower Zambezi NP, but this itinerary, while leaving out both, does give me a nice 6 night introduction to Kafue National Park.
I do like the fact that although Lunga River Lodge is very isolated (reminds me of a poor man's Sand Rivers in Selous from its photos) it does offer massage and those reknowned Zambian bush walks.
