Jordan and Sinai snorkeling

My husband, 25 year old daughter and I are planning a side trip to Dana, Petra, Wadi Rum in Jordan and the Sinai for snorkeling. He will be ending a two week work trip in Amman when we fly out to join him. Not sure which is the most cost and time efficient from the United States: Amman-Dana-Petra-Wadi Rum-Aqaba-Nuweiba-Sharm and back to Amman OR Sharm-Nuweiba-Aqaba-Wadi Rum-Petra-Dana-Amman OR Sharm-Nuweiba-Aqaba-Wadi Rum-Petra-Aqaba-Nuweiba-Sharm? The cheapest consolidator airfare to Amman is on AirFrance from D.C. (about $630) while we can get charter airfare from London to Sharm for about $400.

Also, suggestions for places to stay in Petra and on the Sinai (Sharm?) greatly appreciated. We would prefer a nice, less touristy place.

Thanks!

If you don't want to stay in a touristy place, just forget about Sharm/Na'ama Bay. It is THE most touristy place of the Sinai riviera. Dahab should be pretty unspoilt and the diving/snorkeling as good as in Sharm.
