Johannesburg Hotels?

Hi Folks

We'll be staying in Jo'burg for one night only during our big trip.

We're looking for a hotel near or at the airport since we'd like to maximise time at Kruger (Olifants) before leaving there and will be flying to Maun first thing next morning.

We'd like to keep the budget LOW.

Any suggestions?

THANKS

Kavey - Besides the InterContinental right across from the Int'l Terminal (which can be costly), I believe there is a Holiday Inn on the JNB airport property - a shuttle bus ride from the terminal. Have no idea of the price, but way less than the IC.

Hi Kavey,
If you are checking the Holiday Inn, also check the Emperor. It's just outside the airport...there is a free shuttle bus. The architecture is over the top Casino Style, with an ancient Rome flavor. BUT-- the rooms are silent, tasteful and very comfy. Best part: they have an EXCELLENT health spa, with exercise facilities, hot pools, wonderful massages, facials, etc.
(Make sure to book these in advance). The spa services are excellent and very reasonable. Last year they had a special room price if you booked spa services in advance, so it is worth checking their website. (Don't think this was available through travel agents...only direct with the hotel.) But in any case, I think prices are on par with the Holiday Inn. I much prefer this, primarily because a hot mineral pool soak and good massage is a great way to begin a vacation after a long flight!

Thanks, I booked a room at the Holiday Inn Garden Court near the airport for 589 Rand room only. It's one of those reservations you can cancel up to 6 pm on day or arrival with no charge so decided to book that and see what else I could then find.

Thanks I will check out that suggestion, sounds nice.

Sadly the cheapest room for two adults at the Emperor is showing as 1475 Rand which is just too high for a pitstop night. Hotel looks great though, thanks for the tip.
