Jock Safari Lodge?

Anyone been to Jock Safari Lodge - what was their experience like? The accommodations look great - what was game viewing like and were the rangers allowed to drive offroad? Also looking at Lukimbi - any feedback?

Hi Bushmad,

I haven't stayed at Jock Safari Lodge, but I've read some posts here about the restrictions on game drives in the private concessions in Kruger (notably about Tinga). If you do a search for Tinga, you should be able to bring up the thread.

The main complaints where that the rangers are not allowed to drive off road without filling out an 'environmental damage assessment' and coping with a lot of bureaucracy, which essentially meant that they never went off road. The OP on the Tinga thread described their stay at Tinga as a very upmarket and expensive Kruger Park self-drive, as they were basically confined to the same roads as the self-drivers.

I've also met people during my stays in SA who have seen the Singita Lebombo vehicles using the same roads as the self-drivers.

Cheers,
Julian
