JNB - Transfer Times and Local Airlines

We will be traveling from George to JNB and than continuing on to Nairobi. Three quick questions:
1. Any experience with Kulula or 1time -- the local airline companies. Both fly into Tambo and much better fares than SAA.
2. Our flight to Nairobi leaves at 1:40. Does anyone see a problem arriving from George at 11am or 11:30. The Kulula flight actually is the cheapest but scheduled to arrive at 12:15 which seems to be pushing it. . We travel very light, with carry on luggage.
3. We will be staying in Plett and driving to George to drop off a rental car. I would think we should leave about three hours ahead of flight time?

Thanks.

Amy

Since check-in for international flights is minimum 2/hrs (some airport require more), you've gotta be on the earliest flight!

Sorry, no help, but just curious, what is "George"?

George is a city in S. Africa.

Although check-in isn't necessarily an issue (OP can likely check in and get a boarding pass online, and she won't have bags to check), Kulula is a budget airline and isn't necessarily known for punctuality. Also, any time I've been at JNB, the budget airlines' aircraft are parked at remote stands, which means a bus to the terminal, which can easily add 10-20 mins to the process.

Thanks all. I quickly realized that sometimes pinching a few dollars is not worth the anxiety. SAA gets us to JNB at 11 and that should be fine to catch the flight to Nairobi.
