Jerusalem hotels and day trips

My husband and teenage son are traveling to Israel in March and wanted advice about hotels in Jerusalem. They will be staying a few nights at the King David, but it was not available for the entire time. Other options they were interested in were the American Colony Hotel and The David Citadel Hotel. Is anyone familiar with these hotels and which might be best? Is the neighborhood of the American Colony safe for walking? Also, is it possible to go to the Galilee area for a day trip from Jerusalem? If not, can anyone recommend a place to stay in that area? We appreciate any help...thanks so much!

It's an easy move from the King David Hotel to the David Citadel which is just down the block. While the American Colony is a beautiful and elegant hotel, it is in a totally different neighborhood, not really close to downtown.

United Tours offers bus tours. See this page <http://www.inisrael.com/united/asg/Category_0.html> for more information. Or you could hire a private guide with a car for more flexibility.

If you want to stay in the Galilee area, try the Scots Hotel in Tiberias <http://www.scotshotels.co.il/>, Vered HaGalil Guest Farm <http://www.veredhagalil.co.il/> just north of Tiberias or perhaps Ruth Rimonim Hotel <http://www.rimonim.co.il/_english/ruth-rimonim/> in Safed.

Hope that's helpful.

hi
I stayed at the dan panorama hotel which is exactly accross the road from the king david a few weeks ago with my family and it was lovely.
There is also a club that you can join [edan][ without cost] which awards you a discount.
