Would istanbul be fun at christmas or new years? Also, what is the weather like at that time of year?

No,Christmas in Istanbul is not fun, remember you are in a country where people have no reason to celebrate the birth of christ since they are moslem, they couldn't care less...Turks do celebrate
the newyear.. expect the same weather as you would in Atlanta..

Of course Istanbul is fun at the holidays! You are away experiencing a different culture! Not everything has to be Disney World! Although Christmas is a Christian Holiday, you will find that other travelers chose these holidays to get away from the crowds.

There is certainly plenty to see in Istanbul - there are city tours that let you get your bearings and then you can go back to see what you liked in depth.

Most people come to Turkey for the bazaars especially the rug dealers. Bartering is an art and you can get a workout in Istanbul's gran bazaar!

The weather will be cool, although Mediteranean there has been snow in the area although not common.
It will be in the 40 - 50 degree range.

E-mail me if you want more particulars on sightseeing in the area and in Turkey.
