Israel with 90 year old

I am considering offering to take my mother-in-law back to visit Israel for her 90th birthday. She has been there 15+ times, having led groups at one time. I have been there 3 times, leading a group once. She is physically mobile (using a cane for extra security) and cognitively strong. We will want to visit some friends and relatives and see/revisit some sights as we have not been there in 19 years. Any recommendations for a tour for return visitors or a private guide?

We were there in 2010 and used Menachem Holzman ([email protected]) as our private guide. We were traveling with my parents (in their early 70's) and this was our first trip there, but he has been guiding for a long time and I'm sure could help you plan a great itinerary even for your 15+ trip. We actually booked him through a travel agent, but I know you can also contact him directly. He was an excellent guide great stories, discussions and always took us for great food! Here is a link to my trip report a long with pictures:

jgg-thanks, so much. I will contact your guide. The last time we were in Israel (1994), we had a guide and van and all was good, so we should go that route again. What are your thoughts about Petra for a 90 year old?

There is quite a bit of walking. If you don't want to walk down the long entrance into the Siq you can rent a horse or a buggy, and once you arrive down there you can hire a donkey or camel to walk you further down and possibly up to see some of the other buildings. We just did it all walking so I am not exactly sure of the details. The walking too and from the Siq was the longest, so perhaps if you got some sort of transport to do that.

We have decided that it may be too much of an undertaking and will take a more relaxed 3-4 day trip for the 90th celebration stateside. Thanks all.
