Avoid Sheratons in Israel. These are the worst Sheratons I ever seen. Especially on on Tiberias. I cannot believe that "S" sign is legaly on that hotel

Mamamia, When did you last stay at the Sheraton on Hayarkon? I had planned on staying there on a trip this Spring & would like to get recent up to date info. Also do you know about the Sheraton Plaza in Jerusalem? Another poster who stayed there recently said it is a dump. Wanted to get another opinion.

No, I haven't stayed at the TLV Sheraton nor the Jerusalem one.

But I know that the one on 115 Hayarkon -- unlike the other one, futher north -- is a very nice hotel.

Does anyone know anything about the Sheraon in Eilat? Or the Le Meridian in Eilat? Thanks so much for any info you might have!

Reading this post with interest as I am at the very beginning stages of planning (just came from vacation yesterday). Brace yourself up for lots of questions from me :)

The Sheraton in Eilat is a Moriah Sheraton, which is generally a lower class than the regular Sheratons. Not something to write home about. Not familiar with the Meridian, although it got some good reviews (http://www.asiarooms.com/israel/eilat.html)

If you are willing to spend the money, go for the excellent Hilton Queen of Sheba, or the Dan, or the Sheraton Herods, or the Royal Beach.

True, Sheraton City Tower is a newer hotel but in a business district, far from all interesting areas, and frankly doesn't have a good reputation. The Sheraton on Hayarkon St, on the other hand, is considered one of Tel Aviv best hotels. Its location is perfect, on the beach.
Sheraton Moriah in Eilat underwent massive renovations. Le Meridian Eilat is an all suites hotel. It is pretty nice, but although near the sea, its beach has a lot to be desired. If you want a really fancy hotel go to the Dan Eilat, to the Herod's or the Royal Beach.

Thanks for the info. I wish we could stay at the Hilton, Dan, Sheraton herods or Royal Beach, but we're planning on being in Eilat December 28-30, which either requires a one week stay or, at those hotels, can cost upwards of $400 per room/night...and we need 2 rooms. Any other ideas?

I am considering Sheraton on Hayarkon & Sheraton Plaza in Jerusalm, but some recent posters have complained that the rooms are worn & run-down. Eri, anyone else who says the Sheraton is nice -- Have you been there recently to give me an up-to-date opinion? So hard to know from afar!

Since I live in Israel, I have no reason to stay in the Sheraton neither on Hayarkon St or any other in the Tel Aviv area. The Sheraton is considered to be one of the nicest hotels in the area. I have never heard any complaints from people who stayed there, on the contrary. But, this is only from "hear say", not from personal experience.

I especially like Hotel Agamim (only "rooms on the water" - ground floor). This is our ususal retreat. But all the others are Isrotel Hotels are also nice. If you could shuffle the dates of your visit and go to Eilat before or after those difficult dates that might be very helpful.
