FLIGHTS FROM US TO NAMIBIA AND ETHIOPIA
We are trying to find the best options to fly from the US to Namibia and Ethiopia. We are located in the middle of the US and will fly to a major airport with Southwest points. We will be going to Nam. and Ethiopia and fly to either country first. As of now I have been searching Ethiopian Airlines and South African Air. The best options I am finding are:
SAA: $2845.54 for 2 people
Fly from IAD-JOH
Fly from ADD-IAD
The dates I am looking at are flying out on 11/22 and departing on 12/17.
We will then fly into Windhoek or Walvis Bay once we are in Joh. I am finding booking this flight cheaper on Air Namibia.
We will fly between ADD and Namibia at some point during the trip and I have been looking at Air Nam. and Ethiopian Air.
Are there other good options from US to these places? Have I forgotten to check other airlines?

First, you probably don't want to fly to JOH (Port St. Johns) but rather to Johannesburg (JNB).
Second, rather than slogging through airline sites, use an aggregator or OTA site such as Kayak, Hipmunk or Expedia to scope out airlines, schedules, routes, and so on. Sometimes they will have conjunction fares not readily (or obviously) available on airline sites. You can then take their info and, usually, route right into airline sites for booking.
Third, you can often get better fares by doing a complicated round trip on a single airline. For example, IAD-JNB-ADD-JNB-IAD with stopovers at both ADD and one of the JNBs. (Can also be IAD-ADD-JNB-ADD-IAD.) You may also be able to put your Namibia extension into there with something like:
IAD-ADD-YWH-JNB-ADD-IAD or IAD-ADD-YWH-ADD-JNB-ADD-IAD
Be inventive, it's amazing what one often uncovers after half an hour of searching!

Thanks. It is JHB that I am looking at- just typed the wrong info. I also do all of the suggestions you had everytime we travel. Just trying to see if there is a different airline that I overlooked...

If I were looking at an itinerary like this I'd tend towards an open jaw like the example above ...
<Fly from IAD-Windhoek. Fly from ADD-IAD>
I'd be inclined to fly between Windhoek and Addis using frequent flyer miles.

It's how I find the best flight deals and can see exactly which dates are the lowest prices, etc.
