Israel and Petra
 

I will arrive on the 24/10/15 at Ben Gurion and will leave on the 31/10
I will like to visit Petra also
Can you give suggestions as how to spend those days and how I can travel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and Petra?

We are travelling there around the same time. We are spending most of our time in Jerusalem as most of the day trips, e.g. Masada, Dead Sea, Petra etc all leave from there.

We are spending three nights in TelAviv but have 2 weeks total in Israel. We have a apartment in Jerusalem for 10 nights.
We have a arranged a trip to Petra from Jerusalem with Abraham tours. They have two night and one night tours and seem quite reasonable. The two night is almost the same price as the one night because you play less border fees. They have good reviews.

I am sure some folks who have been there, or live there will chime in and I look forward to hearing what they have to say as well.

I highly recommend spending at least three nights/two full days at Petra. There is a lot more to the place than the Sanctuary. See: http://kwilhelm.smugmug.com/Travel/C...st-2009/Petra/ for some reasons why. Can't help with logistics, I arrived from Syria.

I was in Israel for 2 weeks last October. The weather was perfect.
I spent a few days in Tel Aviv then got the public bus to Jerusalem. Very easy, cheap and fast. About one hour. You pay as you get on. They go very frequently.
In Jerusalem I did a tour with Mike's Tours to Masada, Dead Sea and Jericho. Good. Some people I met used Mike to go to Petra for 2 nights 3 days and were very pleased. I myself had visited Petra when in Jordan so did not cross the border this time.
All the tour companies seem to offer the same itineraries. I wish I had had time to do the Caesarea trip, but it was only offered once a week and the timing did not fit.

In Jordan, I would suggest at least 3 days and see Wadi Rum, Madaba and Jaresh along with Petra. We drove throughout Israel, dropped off the car in Eilat and upon return from Jordan took the bus back to Jerusalem

You have less than 7 days in Israel. ( and part of that is travel time) If you look at the responses everyone recommends 2-3 days in Jordan. I think you need to decide which country you want to visit. A week does injustice to both.
