Is this my best bet?

Just starting this process and have heard great things about Mateya and Sabi Sabi. Considering 2 nights at the former, 3 at the later in the end of January. What should I expect to pay? Are these my best bests if I want to do on reserve in each park?

Have you considered Mala Mala or any of the other Sabi Sand properties? Mala Mala has arguably the best game viewing in the area, along with Londolozi. Check out www.malamala.tv for their latest game sightings.

I am being quoted 650 per person per night at Sabi Sabi, Can I do better elsewhere?

g2g,

Yes, you can and will definitely do better at another place.

I think Simbambili would be an excellent alternative. Have a look at the "Leopards Of Simbambili" link that I am posting below:

http://www.tagasafaris.co.za/african...-04-may-05.htm

The Leopards of Simbambili series is possibly the best of its kind by any safari operator or game lodge and it is produced by Taga Safaris. Go ahead and contact Mark or Celeste at Taga Safaris and I am sure they can do better for you at Simbambili than your Sabi Sabi rates. Let them know that Rocco from Fodor's says hello!

The rooms at Simbambili are very nice, each featuring their own plunge pool. This will be the perfect way to refresh yourself in the late January heat.

Here are some photos of Simbambili:

I will be visiting Simbambili in mid September and it was far and away my choice for my 3 nights in the Sabi Sand, as I think it represents a very good value and may possibly have the best leopard sightings in the whole Sabi Sand (but at least on par with Mala Mala and Londolozi).

Best of luck.
