Yet another great example of how Fodor's can benefit from standard forum software.....

Just a hint!

Well bummer, it appears I still can't post, only read. Nothing happens when I click on Post a reply to this message (neither the one at the top of thread nor the one on the bottom works). Jump to first post doesn't work either. However, Jump to most recent post works fine Anybody have any idea why?

Hi Patty,
We're in the final stages of what has been a long process upgrading our Forums. We are taking the forums out of "frames"; the new platform could very well make posting from an iphone possible. I will be sure that this goal is on our developers' radars. At relaunch, I'll be sure to drop you an email or check this thread to see your feedback regarding posting from a mobile.

While I cannot yet give a firm date for the relaunch, at the latest it will be in January; but we might be able to go live with it later this month or in December. There are just a few final unknowns that we need to work through first.

Thank you for sticking with us and I'll keep you posted.

Also, just realized that you're trying to post from your new Blackberry; I didn't mean to write iPhone as I realize that members can currently post on their iPhones.

Wanted to ask--just to confirm with you so I can pass the info on to our developers; you have been unable to view the forums at all in the past few months, right? I wonder if it has anything to do with your new phone's browser. If you wouldn't mind dropping me a note at [email protected] maybe I can pick your brain some more.

Thanks again.

Hari, did you buy it in India? Is the Web browsing part of your service plan unless you leave the country, and then you pay roaming charges? Since my husband and I fight constantly over our one computer, I see it as a second computer in addition to the phone. Have you used it in AFrica yet?

Domestically, you have unlimited data (web/email) with iphone plans http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-pho...phone-info.jsp

Internationally, you pay data roaming or buy one of the data packages that's available in certain countries http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/in...packages.jsp#7

Using wifi doesn't incur data charges.

LALeslie,

I just got it last week - haven't travelled with it anywhere as yet. I have signed up for cricket score updates from my service provider and it keeps buzzing all day long (a test match can go on for 5 days, with no result sometimes).

Thanks Patty. I read that stuff and was still confused and wondered if the plans in other countries worked the same way. Looksk like the roaming charges, if you spend any time on the browser, can reality get up there. I've heard horror stories of people getting $3,000-$5,000 bills after a trip. Adn since wwe travel internationally that might not be worth it.
Hari, remind me not to take up cricket as a sport to follow.

If you're going to be using it while traveling, I'd definitely sign up for one of the data plans. If the countries you'll be traveling to aren't part of the iphone data plans, you might want to take a look at the Blackberry intl plan which provides unlimited data in a much larger range of countries. You'll, of course, need to buy a Blackberry instead of an iphone in that case.

Thanks, I'll look into that. Both phones sound addicting, but I do like the large screen on the iPhone. I can't believe a former Luddite like myself is even thinking about this...

Hey, the T20 version (3 hour shortened version) is going to make it's way to North America. Very soon ...... You'll like it - better than baseball.

Better than baseball?! Blasphemy, that's America's national pastime! Tho it's dauntingly slow for many people, hence its decline in recent years.
