Is an Iranian visa a problem when entering Israel?
I'm looking at visiting Israel. I have an Iranian visa in my passport from a visit in 2011. Is this likely to be a problem?

You'll be questioned. Quite thoroughly. If it were me I'd get a clean passport. Remember you'll also be questioned at exit. People have been known to miss their planes because of detention at the airport during the process, because of this.

Menachem is misinformed. What passport do you have? If you are an average American tourist, for example, who visited Iran as a tourist and are going to Israel as a tourist without any plans to engage in political related activities, then you will likely only be asked an extra question or two, as MANY people with stamps from Arab and Muslim countries have reported on the various travel forums. However nobody here can give you a definitive answer because we know nothing about you, your background or your plans.

I can only say that I visit regularly. If there are things that are "interesting" to border control, you'll certainly be questioned about them. And of course your last sentence is the most important, mbgg. If you, Maharg, want to be sure there is no hassle (or no additional hassle), do yourself a favour and get a clean passport.

"clean" passport or not, the important thing is to answer all questions honestly, calmly and politely. You will probably not be asked anything in addition to the standard two or three questions that you are asked at any airport, but if you are, the questions may seem repetitive and silly. Just remember that honesty is the best policy when dealing with trained and experienced immigration personnel.
