Immunizations and Visas
Hi Travelers,
Will be traveling from the US to Egypt in April of 2009 and was curious about the two items in the message title. 1. Immunizations: It appears that only travelers coming from a yellow fever infected country need records for this immunization. Are there others that I am not finding info on that should be required? 2. Can visas be obtained upon arrival at the Cairo airport? Moreover, if so, cost? Thanks in advance. Travel Chic |
We got no immunizations for Egypt, but we were only in the main tourist areas - Cairo, Aswan, Luxor, Sharm. Of course, our tetanus shots were up to date, but that would be for anywhere.
Visa - yes, you get it at the airport when you arrive - $15USD, payable in dollars, eurosm and GBP. |
Lest you worry that no one else answered you - I'm here to say that what sf7307 said is right on the money so you don't really need other answers.
Have a great trip! |
Thanks for the affirmation :-)

Thanks to sf7307 and Casual Cairo. You have confirmed my internet searches.
Have either of you heard of GoBus? We will be using their services for our Egypt trip. |
Yeah, I have heard of them. I have one of their brochures and have been keeping my eye out for them.
I keep mixing them up with GO EGYPT. I see the buses for one or the other nearly every time I am down near the Museum. They seem to park under the 6 Oct flyover between the Museum and the Ramses Hilton - whichever one they are. I get the feeling that you might find more info on them over at the Lonely Planet Thorntree as they are a pretty budget oriented tour and so are the people (in general) that use LPTT. If you use them, let us know how it went. I'm very curious to know if it was fun, if their employees were good, quality of hotels, tours, etc. :? Thanks |
