A few weeks ago we stayed 2 nights in LG and 3 nights in IM. The properties are in the same location (a very short drive apart), but they have a different characters. We loved LG because we got to meet more people. My husband and I shared a table with five other people on the last night. We think one of the best parts of the trip was meeting people from different parts of the world.

IM was definitely more luxurious. The bed at LG was so-so, but the IM bed was both comfortable and spectacular. (It takes 10 men to move it. . . very heavy olive wood.) The tents at IM are much larger and the bathroom has a bathtub, but for our tastes, the LG bathroom was just fine.

The lunch meal at LG had greater variety because they were feeding more people, but the quality of the lunch meal was the same at both places. The dinner meal was much better at IM than LG (but LG was still acceptable.)

We don't drink much, so the all-inclusive nature of IM didn't really mean much to us.

What we missed at IM was the social aspect of LG. We think IM would be great for honeymooners or people who really don't want to interact with other people on the trip.

We heard hippos in both places. The last night at IM we had hippos (very loud, actually), elephants, and a lion around our tent. I saw the lion paw prints the next morning!

Sorry to be off thread re LG/IM, but just to let you know that we were in the Mara from 21/01/07 - 30/01/07 and saw Honey plus her 3 cubs on 3 occasions. She was on the Kichwa Tembo side, not far from camp. Saw her hunt twice - she missed on the first occasion, but was successful with a Tommie (after a long chase)on the second day. Then watched as she and her 3 (large now!) cubs finished it off within about 15 minutes. We had also seen them on the Kichwa Tembo side last September, just after she had lost cub number 4.

Really enjoyed reading about "Honey" and her cubs. We saw her on three successive days in June of 06 with her 5 cubs. Saw 2 successful hunts and got lots of photos and have wondered how she was doing.
