With regard to my original question #1 - the interplay between the camps and the tour operators, do I now understand that in Botswana the vehicles and guides are from the camps themselves?

With regard to question #2, I have my answer. Muchas gracias.

For #3, I get the impression that the answer is yes, but I haven't seen an explicit "yes." Perhaps the question was too general to elicit a plain "yes" - in that case please let me know if there's any other info I could provide.

I just want to have full knowledge of what I should expect from a tour operator before I start asking around.

Thanks again.

Basically the answer to #3 is yes. But depends on which country, when you arrive, whether you'll have an overnight in the arriving city or commencing your safari immediately. Depends on the country visiting, whether you are driving or flying will you have one representative, if driving have a guide/driver throughout or if flying someone will meet and transfer you from airstrip to lodge of camp. There isn't much that you have to do for yourself... the incountry operator/s have your itinerary and someone will be there wherever it is that you are.

To #1, not only in Botswana, but in other countries, if you're flying to a particular area, will you be using the camp vehicles and guides shared with other guests. That is unless you make arrangements for exclusive use of a camp's vehicle/guide (can be expensive) or arrange for a vehicle/guide to meet you arriving from a major city, i.e., Nairobi (can also be expensive).

Thanks a bunch Sandi. It's too bad your company does East Africa only - I've read nothing but good things.
