Thought I'd update with some accommodation information since others may be interested.
Ignoring the CCAfrica/Taj Hotels properties here are the likely options:
The Tuli Tiger Resort has been mentioned to me for Kanha and offers two options - the cottages which are less expensive, and the luxury tents which are a little more but look great!

For Bandhavgarh my agent has put forward the Tiger Trails Resort.

For Kaziranga apparently the only option is Wild Grass Lodge, which doesn't look great - and a friend who has just returned confirms that it isn't.
www.nivalink.com/wildgrass (can't find official site)
For Bharatpur the initial suggestion was Laxmi Vilas Palace but I asked if there was anything a bit more special and was referred to The Bagh.

Kavey when I looked at the pictures it confirmed that Tiger Trails was were we stayed in Band. We really liked the place. Not the 5* lux that some would be looking for but we enjoyed the feeling of the place a lot. We were there 3 nights and I can really not think of any complaints. (Did loose a bit of sleep one night when a monkey was trying its hardest to get in throught the bathroom window!) Disclaimer it was 6 years ago that we stayed there!

Thanks Jules, that's good to know...
Actually, it's not that we require 5 star luxury --- the main requirements are clean, comfortable ensuite rooms - and comfortable means beds that aren't lumpy or sagging - with some charm about the place, good service and "safe" food.
But I've found that India doesn't do well on that middle ground between total luxury and somewhat disappointing... hence I'd rather go slightly higher than slightly lower than what I really want.
It's good to know that Tiger Trails is nice... thank you!
