I have a few questions I want to ask

Will be in Casablanca off a cruise for 1 day (9 hours) next July.
Can anyone please recommend best sights to see in Casablanca this day, and is it worthwhile to go say to Rabat (or any other destination) in the same day?

I'd skip Casablanca & just take the train to Rabat for the day. Much prettier city.

Casa is not a beautiful city as Mme Perdu notes. HOWEVER, and this is a BIG HOWEVER, don’t you dare miss touring the Hassan II mosque in Casa. It’s stunning both inside and out. It sits smack dab on the Atlantic Ocean. With a 600+ ft. minaret. And it’s one of the very very few mosques in Morocco that bon Muslims can visit.

I did not get to Rabat in my 2016 Morocco trip but I can say the Hassan II mosque the first thing I saw on my 16 night trip and it was also my favorite single thing I saw in 16 days in Morocco. I can’t imagine being in Casa and not going to see it

I was sure we'd hear from MinnBeef on the subject of the mosque. I've only seen it from the outside on my first trip to Morocco in 1998. It wasn't during hours it was open to tourists & I didn't feel the need to go back. The setting is dramatic but, at least from the outside, I was underwhelmed. In any case, with your available time counted in hours, not days, as I see it, it makes much more sense to spend the time somewhere conducive to a relaxed visit, rather than going here & there. As a replacement for the mosque in Casablanca I'd suggest the Mausoleum of Mohammed V in Rabat which I found impressive & moving.

MinnBeef, I always enjoy your posts, whether I agree with you or not. But you know that.

Hi, I would do a half-day tour and stroll around after. And true as Minnbeef says, you should not miss the Hassan II mosque. Stunning!
We also went to a souk, I had so much fun looking at everything. Love seeing people interact with tourists.
