I day in Joburg + dinner
 

We are staying at the Holiday Inn near airport for one night, on our way to Botswana the next day. What is the closest good restaurant for dinner? Any suggestions about a half day tour we could take? Never been in the city before.

You could certainly book a half-day city tour or Soweto tour.

Dino's is a nice French restaurant in Bedfordview, a suburb near the airport. It's at the Bedford Centre on Smith Street.

I asked this a while ago and all the replies said to go to Soweto. I'm leaving Friday for the same Holiday Inn, and am hoping the hotel will be able to help with a 1/2 day tour.

If you want to do a Soweto tour, let the hotel know before you leave -- they need at least a day to set it up for you. I tried to set one up when I landed and ended up missing out because it wasn't possible to join at such short notice.
