How's the Kempinski Kilimanjaro in Dar es Salaam?

Going to Tanzania with my better half in January and we are planning to stay at the Kempinski while in DAR. As there is very little in the way of real information about it on the web, we are basing our decision mainly on the Kempinski reputation and the hotel being newly renovated...

Has anyone stayed there, or better yet, can anyone make a comparison between the Kili and the alternatives such as the Sea Cliff or the Moevenpick?

Any suggestions about what definitely to see in DAR? We are staying there for of four full days combined before and after our Western TZ (Greystoke Mahale & Chada Katavi) adventures.

Cheers,
T.

I stayed at the Kempinski for 2 nights last month. It was lovely.

It is quite centrally located in the heart of town. The Sea Cliff is much farther out.

I would recommend you upgrade to one of the executive suites with balcony - its not much more money as they are having a grand opening special. The view of the harbor from those rooms is wonderful.

The pool was very nice too.

You probably cannot find much on the web as the hotel just opened in August, after extensive renovations.

Thanks for the info, Queenie. We have actually booked a suite already ;-)
