Seems a little high for 2 weeks. We used Ahmed Hamed Yousif E-mail [email protected] Our trip was for a month so a little more than your quuote and we had a private guide on our Nile Cruise-Oberie Philae. We also flew from Cairo to Aswan-Hurghada to Cairo-Cairo to Jordan-Jordan to Cairo. We stayed 5 times at Cairo Marriot |(worked out nicely for leaving things at hotel for later on in our trip) We stayed 3 nights at Movenpick-can highly reccomend. Stayed overnight in Abu Simbel. Also taken by guide 7 driver and stayed 2 nights in Alexandria at Helnan Palestine on the Medeterrean Sea.
The servie was impecable-the guides warm and friendly.
End of Sept a tad warm but towards end of our trip late October more bearable. Happy planning Chris

BeniciaChris,
Where di you stay in Abu Simbel? (We are hoping to visit Egypt in January next year - not really sure what will happen and whether we will go, but I am still collecting information and making plans for now).

We stayed at Eskaleh Eco Lodge. There were only 5 rooms in a Nubean home. While it was not fancy-no pool-the customer service was wonderful. The room was quite small with a bathroom & sitting area off the bedroom/ We had very hot weather in October & the airconditioning was the best we had in Egypt-you probably won;t have that problem in January. I am so glad we spent the night-we saw the temple-the sound & light show. We didn';t fly but were on a convoy there & back & doing all in one day would have been too much.
I hope this recent upheaval doesn't discourage you-Egypt was a wonderful place to visit-people friendly and the antiquities phenominal-Chris

In today's news, airlines have stopped flying to Cairo and the pyramids are closed. Very sad, but change comes at a cost. I wish the people of Egypt well.

Thanks BeneciaChris for the info. We too had pretty much settled on Eskaleh Eco Lodge. Thanks for the info -sounds good!

Well, we have not given up on the idea of going to Egypt yet, but I guess the next couple of months will tell if it is a possibility for next January, or if we will have to try to change our flights and holiday in Europe. At the moments our tickets (booked and paid for) have us flying into Paris and out of Cairo, so for now we are just hanging in there to see what happens. I keep reminding myself this is much bigger and more serious for others than merely a disrupted holiday. We will go ... if not this trip, maybe one day later!
