How important it is to have a guide in Marrakech

I am planning a 4 day stay in Marrakech, still haven't decided where I am going to stay, either Palmeraie area, or Medina. Anycase, while searching the threads for Morocco, noticed many mentioned a certain guide Hamid. How important is having a guide in Marrakech? Would like some feedback. Should I book all 4 days the guide?

You only need a guide maybe for two days. Other places around the city can be reached by a petite taxi (very cheap, negotiate). Guide costs 200 DHs per day. Have the riad book the guide for you. They should be official guides. Word of caution. Guides make most of their money taking you to souks. They all get a 10% cut. Be firm! Sometimes you have to say NO a million times.

Definitely stay in the Medina. You can explore the city better. The horse-drawn carriage also is a nice way to explore. Quite reasonable price.
