How do I confirm flight while on safari?

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I have been wondering how I will confirm my return flight while I am on safari? Is it unnecessary to do so? I have read that it is essential to confirm flights 48 to 24 hours in advance but I can't see how I will do that while I am in country.

Also, I will be printing our boarding passes for our outgoing flight, but I will be unable to do so for the return flight. Will that be a problem?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!!

I have not reconfirmed a flight in years, most airlines dont require it now. If yours does, then maybe your ground handler could do it.

If your airline requires reconfirmation, you can either have the camp (depends on where they are) or your ground operator do it. Can't you get your boarding passes the old fashioned way, at check in?

we had an itnerary that required a lot of reconfirmation. if it is an african carrier (our were), the lodges will do it for you. you just tell them what you need. if it is your international airline, ask them how far in advance you can reconfirm and get the contact number for them and paass that along to your camp as well.
i've found that apart from india 7 years ao, most airlines will recofnirm you much earlier than you think- often for the outbound flight.
if it is air botswana all i can say is good luck because our flight was flat out cancelled stranding us mid-safari! nationwide also cancelled our flights. fortunately reconfirmation had us at the airport at the right time fo rthe right flights or else i'd still be in zambia.

good luck.

Our last place did it for us--they even suggested it. Where will you be toward the end?

Kerikeri,

Air Botswana cancelled? Jeez, they've been spot on everytime i've used them.....sorry about your experience.

Carrie,

Yes, if you need re-confirmation the camps/lodges will assist you in doing so. If there are no phones where you are staying, they will radio their head office to do the needful!!! no worries....

Thanks to everyone. Up until now, my husband has refused to fly anywhere so all of our travel has been in the states. I am completely unfamiliar with the process so your help (with this and everything else) has been much appreciated.

bat-We will be staying at Matemwe at the end. That was where you were as well, right?

btw--I'm finally in single digits!! Nine days from today!!

carrie:
9 days and counting --so exciting. You leave on the 15th? So does Leely. Do you overlap any places?

Yes, we were at the Matemwe Bungalows--they brought it up, had a form to fill out, and took care of it (both the flight to Dar and our KLM flight)--we would not have thought about it so I was impressed.

Have a great trip.

I just checked the count down thraad and saw your itinerary. It does not look as if you and Leely will not be staying at any of the same places. So unless you are on the same international flight?

BTW, I noticed that you have 2 days at Matemwe. You might want to check with your airline to see how early you have to reconfirm to make sure that is enough time and you can do it at check-in. Otherwise you might want to ask at the Tembo.
