How bad are the rains in Tanzania?

So, after doing one final perusal before I hope on the flight from Cairo to Tanzania tonight (OMG it's 12 hours away!!!!!), I keep coming across posts about the torrential rains in the Serengeti. Can anyone tell me how much they are hindering travel? Thanks
Laura

Here's a satellite image of what's going on in Africa. I don't know if it helps or not.

Take a look at this site that Bill mentioned in a previous post -

and this too for watching the overall forecast -http://www.wunderground.com/global/stations/63894.html

Here are recent reports from Ndutu lodge and Nomad ...
http://www.ndutu.com/pages/whatshappening.html

http://www.atta.co.uk/nomad/index.html (later report said the Seronera airport was either fixed or almost fixed)

Also, there were at least three recent Fodorite reports from around Christmas day where the people all had problems accessing specific areas but lived to tell the tale.

Thanks Bill you are on it better than I :)

Sorry huladolphin - wrong date linked above, but Bill has sent the correct main one for atta.co.uk. But you may already be heading to the airport by now and will have to let us know when you return.

Green Footprint just told me that the last couple of days were quite nice (in Arusha); sunny and no rain.
The serengeti is already drying up ;)

Some rain is forcasted however for the coming days, but not the heavy rains like in december..
