Hotels in Israel & other stuff
Anyone know anything about the Sheraton Towers & Hotel in Tel Aviv, American Colony in Jerusalem, and Red Sea Sport Hotel in Eilat? Also, what is the weather like in the middle of November? Crowds? What is the best way to get from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem? How much is a tour from Jerusalem to Masada? If we want to visit one of the spas for mud treatments and stuff, which one would you recommend? Thanks one and all, and have a happy new year!

Hi, Ellen,
We were in Israel in mid-Nov. this year (still '98) and had one day of (brief) rain; most of the days were beautiful and warm-to-hot, depending on location (VERY hot at Masada and Dead Sea). Crowds were so-so except at Masada (many tour groups), but never an issue. Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is under an hour by car, a lot depends on time of day and where you're starting and ending in each city. Bus is the only real alternative. We did the mud "stuff" at the Ein Gedi Kibbutz hotel/spa; good fun, included in the hotel charges (not cheap). No experience with your hotels or with Eilat. Best wishes for '99.

Don't know about the hotels you mention.
The trip to Massada will cost 70 US$ in an AC bus, or only 10 US$ on a low budget tour, the so-called Massada sunrise tour which I recommend (see Massada at sunrise!!!).
Have a look at my site for a detailed report on our trip
