Hilton and Marriotts in Cairo and Luxor
I'd love to be able to use some hotel points to defray the cost of our say. Any thoughts on Hilton or Marriott properties would be welcome - I've seen good things about the Marriott Cairo & Omar Khayyon Casino Hotel, and it seems as the Nile Hilton is well-located.
Many thanks in advance.

In Cairo the Cairo Mariott is the one to go for. It is lovely.
Depending on when you will be here, there might not be a Nile Hilton to come to. Jan 1 it changes to a Ritz Carlton. The Ramses Hilton is nowhere near as nice, and the WTC Hilton is not so well located - it's down the road and not easy access to anything else useful without use of a taxi.
In Luxor there is no Marriott to the best of my knowledge and I haven't heard that the Hilton is reopened after it's remodel.

We stayed in the Marriott 2 weeks ago and would rate it 4+star. I would request a high floor amnd ONE king bed. We had 2 queens and the room was a little tight but nice. Also, they have non-smoking floors if you request it and want one.
Lunch and even a light dinner in the Garden Promenade are pretty good as is lunch in Roy's if you are around the hotel.

We just returned from Egypt, and spent four days at the Cairo Marriott. It was a really nice hotel with a couple of exceptions. If you are in one on the "Garden rooms" you could be about 75 yards from the lobby. If you are in an upper floor, the elevator is even further away and doesn't work half of the time. So try to avoid the "garden rooms" Also avoid the "Roys Country Kitchen" restaurant in the Marriott. It's not too good. They try to cook country type food, but it just doesn't come out too good.

Just returned 1 week ago on Grand Circle tour. Stayed at the Cairo Marriott and thought it very nice. Bed linens very soft and smooth, 4 pillows on each of the 2 double beds, comfortable firm mattress that even DH loved and he is a like a 10 on that adjustable mattress you see advertised. Good location too. Great breakfast buffet at the Cafe was included so don't know the cost. You will have a wonderful trip, we did. The friendly people were what we liked the best.
