Hey, how cool is this? Our very own Selwyn in the shortlist!

Well, our very own Selwyn Davidowitz is a finalist in the Wanderlust Paul Morrison Guide Awards 2007!

Wanderlust is one of my favourite magazines and the competition was launched by founder Lyn Hughes last year in memory of her late husband and co-founder, Paul who believed passionately in the added-value that comes from a superb guide.

When I got my April/ May issue I spotted Selwyn immediately and meant to post here but forgot! Today I decided to send in my own letter about Selwyn to support his nomination but I thought others here might get a kick out of this one:

Congrats to Selwyn and we hope to use his services one day for a return to Cape Town. Wanderlust is one of my favorites mags also!

That's very, very impressive -- Selwyn is among six worldwide nominees. Congratulations.

Congrats to Selwyn. I only know him from his posts here, but they are all informative, helpful and polite--and often more (insightful, thought-provoking, etc.). Good to see him getting this type of recognition.

A wonderful honor.

I am so glad that this was posted to this Forum. We toured with Selwyn in 2003 and we really had a great time with him. I still e-mail with him often, and he really deserves the nomination he received for this award.

Congratulations Selwyn!! Though we had to cancel our booking with you as we deleted Capetown from our first trip, your knowledge and enthusiasm shone through and one day we will make the trip South and look you up for a tour. Way to Go!

Ditto from me; I don't know Selwyn personally except from this forum. He's been a wonderful source of great information and his enthusiasm for his native Cape Town shows through in everyone of his posts to this forum. I'm blessed to know such a man. I hope to use his services in the future. Thank you and congratulations. Kristina

Congratulations, Selwyn! I have always enjoyed your posts here, and when we get to Capetown, we'll be definitely trying to book you as our guide!

Selwyn and I had a lovely catch-up chat using Skype - I really ought to use that more often and if anyone here is on it and fancies saying hello, drop me an email.

I sent in my letter to Wanderlust too! I'll keep my fingers crossed though just being shortlisted is a great achievement.

Hello all,

Thank you all for your warm and wonderful wishes. I will keep you posted as to what happens after the finals in October. Most important is that you should take down the names of the other tourguides in the finals because if you ever visit the countries of these guides (India, Mongolia, Romania, Egypt and the Indian reserves in the USA) they seem to be amongst the best guides to travel with.

Once again thank you to all for your wishes.

Very proudly part of the wonderful ((R))nation of South Africa
