Here is an interesting lodge in Selous, Tanzania...

Sable Mountain Lodge

I discovered this lodge only after doing a search on Tanzania and reading a very favoarable report on, a wonderful site where people review just about everything, but which I read for travel reviews.

This place looks great...not a Singita by any means, but a very comfortable place in a great location.

While this is definitely not Sand Rivers, it does look like a place worth consideration, especially for a stay of 4+ nights, yielding a possible $1,500 USD savings.

Roccco: Sable Mountain Lodge is relatively new, and while it looks very nice, it is not of the standard you are looking for. It is more known for independent travellers and is a big draw for The Thorn Tree/Lonely Planet crowd. It does offer night drives outside of the reserve. Its location is supposed to be in the midst of prime elephant territory.
