Help with Zanzibar Resorts ?
 

Hi, I am planning a safari and beach trip to Kenya and Zanzibar Island next summer.
I am divided between these 3 resorts:

- Breezes Resort
- Mapenzi Beach Club
- Karafuu Hotel

Until now I have only seen feedback about Breezes, I've read it's very good. The other two also look great and the Mapenzi with all inclusive would cost me the same as Breezes in half board only.
Has anyone had any experience at any of these hotels? I also wanted the beach in front of the hotel to be very nice.
If anyone can help me I would apreciate it very much.Thanks.

Hi Tere,

Just got back from an East African Safari with a 3 night add on to Zanzibar. We stayed at Breezes. If you are a couple, without kids, it is very nice. We however had a child, one of three that were staying there. It is very nice, but isolated. It is an hour into Stone Town. Also, I was surprised to find out the beach had a lot of coral and spiny sea urchins, so you needed water shoes...yikes. However, it looks beautiful. I never went in the water, and I live on an island! Evidently the swimming is better at the North end of the island. Good Luck.

I will be travelling with my 22 yaer old daughter and my 25 year old son. I think Breeze is more for couples but the tour operator recommended it. But if I am not to go to the water I am not interested in staying there. How was the food, good?

Does anyone know the Mapenzi Beach Club in Zanzibar?

Yes, the food was fine. They had either a set menu at dinner or buffet according to the night. They also had a couple of 'disco' nights. We found we were the only people up and attending them. Ironic, since we had the children. We just assumed the honeymooners retired early! Again, very few people were in the beach water, most were in the pool. However, sitting at the bar and looking out at the water was a postcard picture, quite beautiful. Hope this helps.

Thank you Cronen for the information. I've already decided for the Mapenzi Beach Club. I think the beach there is better and I hope to be able to swim without the shoes, lol.Swimming pool for me is just where there isn't a beautiful beach so I'm trying the Mapenzi, which I've seen it's highly recommended also.
