Nyama,

Did the Bradt guide for Zambia release a 2007 edition? like they did for Botswana? I only have the 2005 edition and seems like at that time, Kafue didnt have too much information.....that was perhaps before teh WS camps, even....

Thanks,
H

Hari,

I'm not aware of a new Zambia Bradt edition, and it isn't really necessary - there is enough info on Kafue in the old editions and it's still valid. Add the info on the websites of the new camps (WS, Plains camp) and you have all you need.

Several years ago my decision to go to Kafue as my first Zambian park was based on Chris's book, and I'm still happy that I did it - one of the most exciting offers is no longer available in that form (Lufupa night drives), and I had the opportunity to visit the Busanga Plains several times before they were plastered with bush hotel-like structures. I returned to Kafue at each of my Zambian safaris, dropping Lower Zambezi after the first time, because compared to Kafue I find LZ rather boring.

Hari - The 2004 edition (sunset on the Zambezi with the canoe in the foreground) is the latest one though its been reprinted in 2005 and 2006. Information on Kafue is perhaps our of date given that Wilderness now owns almost every property there.

This is the most contemporary source I've found, but obviously doesnt list every available property. http://www.expertafrica.com/area/Kaf...ional_Park.htm

I shall be speaking to Chris early next week to work through an itinerary for 2008, so if you have any questions, email me.

nyama - please could you email me. Wanted to bounce some ideas regarding SLNP/Kafue.

www.safari-portal.de/Lodging.ZM.West.d.html has a quite useful link list to camps in and around Kafue NP.

Properties inside the park are listed under Kafue National Park. Also look at camps in Kasonso-Busanga GMA (north of the park), Mumbwa GMA (east of middle section), Mushingashi Game Conservancy (east of northern section), Namwala GMA and Nkala GMA (both east of southern section).

amolkarnik, if you have any special questions, please ask them here on the board.
