Poison Ivy on Safari

Our son is quite suseptible to Poison Ivy, Oak, Sumac. Is there anything like that in East Africa that we should be concerned about?

Not that I ever heard of. I'd do only closed toed shoes with at least calf-high socks if I were him, even on game drives and around camp. I'd bring a cream to deal with itchiness just in case something out there is irritating.

poison ivy is an allergic reaction. No one can say what your son is allergic to. Pyrethrums are raised in east africa, although I would doubt that they cause a violent skin reaction like poison ivy does, it's more hay fever, which I know from experience.

So, make sure you stock up on Benadryl ad cortosone creams and whatever allergy medicines you like - I use Zyrtec for mine - and have a great time.

Thanks for the replies. We always travel with Benedryl and Cortisone. I am starting to organize our travel medicine and I was curious. We have plenty of time (84 days and counting).
