Have you been on a train ride though Africa?

I'd like to hear from travelers who have been on Rovos, the Blue train, and the first class travel on the Main Line.

I want to know the most scenic routes so I can decide how to work at least one into our adventure in Africa. I'm particularly interested in the once a week first class travel available on main line that allows more room.

Thanks in advance for your input.

I have a friend who went on the Blue Train over a year ago from Pretoria to Cape Town-she enjoyed it so much that she went back by Blue train from Cape Town to Pretoria. Loved the service.

Mariacallas,

I would recommend the Blue Train journey highly. It is wonderfully relaxing, great food, magnificent comfort and all in all a great ride. The only problem is that it is very expensive.

Rovos are good to but they sure know how to charge and are extremely expensive.

At the end of the day if you can afford the Blue train ride DO NOT miss it.

Enjoy.

I agree about the Blue Train - super experience - but if you really want to appreciate the scenery of South Africa, especially the Garden route, then do it by road.
