Here's an update on SaSaab Camp:

It's run by the same people as Sala's Camp and located in Ngutuk Ongiron Conservancy (West Gate Conservancy) west of Samburu National Reserve. They use Loloroi Airstrip on the group ranch (same airstrip as for old Bedouin Camp). The camp will open on July 1st and featured on the Private Wilderness website then.

From the fact sheet:

DESCRIPTION

Situated above the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River, in the arid heart of Samburu land, SaSaab's tranquil
setting offers views towards the Laikipia plateau and of Mount Kenya. The mess sits on a high rocky ridge
allowing one to enjoy the spectacular views through the Moroccan interior and courtyard.
The swimming pool is perched on the hill side overlooking the river adjacent to the Spa area offering
massage and beauty treatments.
SaSaab offers a true wilderness experience with excursions into the famous Samburu Reserve known for its
large herds of Elephant and the endangered Grevy Zebra.

room, fully serviced bathrooms and additional open air showers. Tents are either twin or doubles. Electricity

Update:

SaSaab Camp is now featured on the Private Wilderness website,
www.privatewilderness.com/html/sasaab.htm

Looking at the photo gallery my first thoughts were "Shompole Samburu". Looks like this camp is the most comfortable accommodation option in the area now.

And, another new camp scheduled by 1st June '08, Saruni Samburu. With 4/tented chalets and 2/family chalets (each containing 2nd bedroom), with pool... it is hot up here during those "summer" months (Dec/Mar).

The same outstanding Saruni guiding, vehicles, service, food, spa.
