Has anyone ever stayed at Chitwa Lodge in South Africa?

Hi there!

I am planning a surprise trip to South Africa/Seychelles for our wedding anniversary.

We are going to Cape Town/Winelands for 5 days, want to go on safari for 3-4 days, and then Seychelles for 5 days.

I found the website for Chitwa-Chitwa Lodge in South Africa, and it looks really nice. However, I cannot find any info about it in the guide books, so would so appreciate it if anyone knows anything about it, or has even stayed there.

It is very reasonably priced, but I just wonder why it is so inexpensive compared to the other lodges nearby. Any caveats?

Thanks so much for your help!!! :)

It is adjacent to djuma which I have stayed at. It has small area to view game but is adjacent to the unfenced area near Krueger. It should be great.

well if it's near Djuma it'll be fine! Djuma is great and not overpriced - even some of us local south africans can afford it. I've had a look at one of my travel brochures re Chitwa - it looks really nice. It's in Sabi Sands - you'll see the big 5 within 24 hours. These places are always excellent - I would relax and enjoy it - you don't need to pay the earth to enjoy Africa! Paula

Hi Melissa
I know you did not ask for my opinion but I noticed that you are planning only short visits in three places. We did that and belive me it is not worthy to go to Seychelles for such a short time and only for 3-4 days on safari. Maybe you should consider extending your safari and forget Seychelles as Cape Town is so beautiful and you will feel bad that you did not go to one more safari lodge to experience more of it. I am speaking from my own experience when we tried so many places in such a short time

Thank you all so much for your help - it does sound as if Chitwa should be great, so I think we are going to go ahead and book it! I'll let you know how the rest of our plans go!! :)
